London City Airport has been granted planning permission to increase its flight movements to 120,000 per year – a 50 percent increase on the current limit of 80,000. The planning permission is for increased number of flights not an increase in operational hours. London City airport submitted plans for expansion in August of last year in preparation for the 2012 olympics, predicting up to 3.9 million passengers would pass through the airport by 2010. 2007 saw 2,904,013 pass through the airport, up 23% on 2006.
