Aberdeen Airport has announced it enjoyed its busiest ever year in 2013.
A record year has seen passengers exceed 3.48 million passengers, which sees the first increase on its previously busiest year back in 2007 before the travel market went into decline following the economic downturn.
Speaking about the record passenger numbers, Managing Director, Carol Benzie, said “Throughout 2013 we were aware that the whole team was putting in a great performance, and it is therefore very pleasing to see us record such a high passenger figure. What this represents is a recovery from the recession which hit the whole of the UK aviation sector, some more than others. We have recovered and then improved upon that performance as a result of great team-work and the continued buoyancy of our region.”
2014 promises much excitement and expectation also, as the airport redevelops it terminal buildings, along with a big increase in leisure destinations.
