It has been announced that Qantas is to launch a direct, non-stop service between London and Australia.
The new service will start in March 2018 and will fly from Heathrow to Perth, taking just 17 hours.
The flight, which covers 14,498 kilometers, will be made on the airline’s 787-9 Dreamliner, which has had enhancements to make it an even more comfortable flying experience for passengers; with lower cabin noise, improved air quality and reduced affects of turbulence. What’s more, the airline is also working on its on-board services to help reduce the affects of jetlag.
Speaking about the new service, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, said, “This is a game-changing route flown by a game-changing aircraft. Australians have never had a direct link to Europe before, so the opportunities this opens up are huge. It’s great news for travellers because it will make it easier to get to London,” he said.
“It’s great news also for Western Australia because it will bring jobs and tourism and it’s great news for the nation, because it will bring us closer to one of our biggest trade partners and sources of visitors.”
