Virgin Holidays has announced that, from July 2017, its new Managing Director will be Joe Thompson.
Currently, Mr Thompson is Senior Vice President of Sales and Distribution for Virgin Atlantic, although is currently on Parental Leave.
On his return, he takes over from Mark Anderson, who has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Customer at Virgin Atlantic. Until then, Virgin Holidays will be led by interim Managing Director Dave Geer, who is currently Product, Commercial and Business Development Director for Virgin Holidays.
In his new position, from the summer, Mr Thompson will focus on customer service, memorable experiences and fun that made Virgin Holidays one of the largest and most respected long-haul tour operators in the UK.
Joe joins Virgin Holidays after 14 years with Virgin Atlantic, working in leadership positions across commercial and customer service-focused functions, including Airport Operations, Network and Alliances and Sales and Distribution.

Whilst Joe Thompson, new Managing Director at Virgin Holidays, added, “I’m delighted to be taking over from Mark as Managing Director. Dave Geer, acting MD, has helped develop the company’s long term growth strategy, will ensure future success through his understanding of the customers at the heart of the business and his commitment to Virgin Holidays’ unique style and innovative spirit.
