Cornwall Airport has reason to celebrate as it announced its latest passenger figures for June, resulting in the largest growth in years.
In June of this year, compared to the same month last year, passenger numbers were up by a staggering 51%, which equates to 42,343 passengers using the airport in that single month.
Demand is on the up for the Cornish airport, as many people take advantage of the boost in flights, choosing to travel by air rather than road, as both routes and capacity increase.
Speaking about the passenger figures, Al Titterington, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, said, “We continue to work hard to secure new routes and higher frequency services to best serve the people of Cornwall as well as those wishing to visit our beautiful county. It’s really rewarding to see more and more people benefitting from the improved connectivity options now on offer.”
Whilst Adam Paynter, Cabinet Member for Resources, added, “I am delighted by the progress being made by Cornwall Airport Newquay. It is an important part of our transport infrastructure and is providing an increasing number of connections for visitors to get to Cornwall.”
