The number of passengers travelling through Birmingham Airport in March hit a record-breaking 730,307 – an increase of 8.4% on March 2007.

Contributing to the growth was a rise of 9.7% on non-EU routes, an increase of 10.8% on EU routes, a 16.6% increase in traffic to and from the Irish Republic while domestic passengers increased by 0.9%.

Peter Vella, Business Development Director at Birmingham International Airport, said: “It is the second straight month of record-breaking passenger figures for the Airport, which is obviously great news as we strive to break the 10 million passenger barrier this year. We are delighted to have seen flybe launch new routes to Inverness and Newquay in March, which once again increases the choice available to passengers flying from their local Airport.”
