Birmingham Airport is celebrating a record June this year, with its busiest month, ever!
Nearly 1 million passengers used the airport, seeing the airport increase its passenger numbers by 2.8%.
Much of the growth has been experienced in long haul travel – up by 20% compared with the same time last year. With long haul flights being added, such as the recently introduced Birmingham to Beijing route by Hainan Airlines. What’s more, American Airlines has also announced a new service between Birmingham to New York which has been extremely popular with passengers.
Short haul traffic has also seen an increase, with routes to Amritsar, Keflavik, Perpignan and Madrid benefiting from popular demand.
Chief Executive, Paul Kehoe, said, “Throughout 2015, we’ve seen passenger records smashed almost on a monthly basis and June was no different. It was particularly pleasing to see long-haul traffic increase by 20 per cent too, compared to the same period last year; a clear sign that demand continues to grow in this market.”
