Figures released by BAA show that Edinburgh airport has seen more than nine million passengers travelling through the airport in the past twelve months, a rise of 4.8%.

The airport’s expanding route network is seen as the contributory factor which saw in excess of 690,000 passengers using the airport in November alone.

Managing Director of Edinburgh Airport, David Johnston, said: “It has been a year of milestones for Edinburgh Airport. We have reached 100 destinations, had 29 new services, and are now dealing with nine million passengers, making us the busiest Scottish airport. We have worked hard to widen our route network, opening up new and exciting destinations to our passengers, and expect further new route announcements next year.”
