Exter Runway Fun Run for Charity of the Year FORCE

Exeter Airport charity of the year 2013 Force

Exeter Airport has selected FORCE as its 2013 Charity of the Year.

The local cancer charity will benefit from a special fund-raising event when 170 of the airport’s employees run the length of the runway.

Exeter Airport’s managing director Matt Roach said: “Our members of staff were keen to continue their support for FORCE and proposed a special event to raise funds in a way that was unique to the airport.  The Runway Fun Run will be a first for Exeter and we anticipate that this will be a great success.”

The only permitted participants on the 2075 metre fun run down the runway on Sunday 3 March are airport members of staff and it is anticipated that all places will be taken up.

Sarah Daniels, FORCE Fund-raising Manager was delighted by the news: “Continuing to receive support locally is so important to us. Not only will the airport outlets continue their cash collections but the Runway Fun Run is a very exciting event in our new year of association.”

FORCE is now in its 26th year, and the Charity is very proud to have been able to invest over £10 million in local cancer services during this time. The FORCE Cancer Support and Information Centre based in the grounds of the RD&E Hospital was extended during 2012 to help manage more than 16,000 visits per annum from patients, carers, families and friends.
