With the public urged to use public transport more as it’s cheaper, and better for the environment it seems that actually, public transport isn’t always the better option when travelling to Gatwick Airport. In fact, using public transport is hugely expensive.

On comparing the two when travelling to Gatwick Airport, travellers using airport car parking found it considerably cheaper than travelling on public transport, and thus airport parking certainly holds the ‘trump’ card for cost and convenience.

Help-Me-Park.com, one of the leading Gatwick airport Meet and Greet parking providers, can reveal that recent research, carried out by Travelrobe, exposes the cost of using public transport when travelling to Gatwick Airport as being far more expensive that using airport parking.  Not to mention how difficult travelling with heavy luggage and families can be on public transport.

Such high public transport costs mean that more than ever before the hugely popular and convenient Meet and Greet Gatwick Airport parking is a viable option for travellers flying out of Gatwick Airport .

The ever rising cost of public transport verses the cost of paying for airport parking is one of the main reasons passengers are using the parking facilities at Gatwick, and as a result the popularity and demand of Gatwick Airport car parking is increasing.  Help-Me-Park alone are experiencing increases of over 50% year-on-year for their market leading ‘no waiting – money back guarantee’ Meet and Greet airport parking service.

For example, the cost of a family of four; comprising of two adults and two children, travelling on the Gatwick Express would cost £86.40 return from London. Should the passengers choose to travel first class, a serious consideration during rush hour periods, the cost increases to £138.  Add on top of this 4 London Underground tickets, both ways at £4 each, the total cost increases to a staggering £170 travelling first class.

Perhaps not all travellers will want the inconvenience of travelling on the rail network. Perhaps a private cab is the preferred option?  Such an option would cost approximately £45 each way from Central London – a total journey price of £95. To hire a metered black cab would cost around £70 each way – a total journey price of £140.

Compare that to Help-Me-Park’s incredibly convenient Meet and Greet airport parking for one week; where travellers drive straight from their home to right outside the airport terminal on their departure, and then on their arrival are meet from right outside the airport terminal enabling them to drive straight home, costs just £83.   Compared to travelling on the Gatwick Express, that’s a saving of £87, against a metered cab that’s a saving of £57.

I could not agree more with these comments. People use public transport as the last resort, who wants to lug suitcases to a bus or rail stop and then change at least twice when you can drive to the airport with minimal carrying
