BAA Gatwick has announced the renewal of its contract with Checker Cars, the current official taxi provider for Gatwick airport taxis.

A condition of the new contract will see Checker Cars make several improvements to its service including replacement of a many vehicles with new environmentally friendly people carriers, better passenger information, a more efficient booking system.

“The tender process we have just gone through is an important part of ensuring quality for airport passengers,” Fraser Brown, Head of Commercial Transport BAA Gatwick said. “Requiring the existing company to retender and inviting proposals from other businesses, ensures our airport passengers are provided with the best taxi service available. Checker Cars will be making a number of changes to benefit passengers and will be looking at ways to make further improvements all the time. We are pleased to see that Checker Cars are to continue the association with BAA Gatwick.”
