If you plan to get the train to Gatwick over the Christmas and New Year period, please be aware that your journey time is likely to be around 90 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes.
Major rail engineering works between Christmas Eve and Monday 4 January 2016 will result in line closures and no direct trains between London and Gatwick Airport – Gatwick Express trains will be suspended between the hours of 23:00 on 24 December and 04:00 on Monday 4 January 2016.
No trains will operate between South Croydon and Redhill during this period.
Journey times on the London Victoria to Gatwick Airport route are set to triple, up from 30 minutes to around 90 minutes.
Trains will operate from London to East Grinstead and then a replacement bus service will take passengers from East Grinstead to Gatwick Airport. Travel to Gatwick is also possible via trains to Horsham and then a replacement bus service to Gatwick
Although trains between Brighton and Gatwick will operate as normal, commuters will need to travel to East Grinstead by bus (from Three Bridges) before taking the train onwards to London – a journey expected to take two and a half hours.
If you still intend to travel by train to Gatwick please allow sufficient time for your journey. Alternatively, you could consider other forms of transport, such as driving and parking at Gatwick. Remember, if you chose to book Gatwick meet and greet parking, always book with a Gatwick Approved Operator.
