Gatwick is home to Norwegian’s first ever UK headquarters.
The low cost airline, that is shaking up the transatlantic market, is looking to further expand its UK operations, as it has become Gatwick’s third largest airline.
As the first permanent HQ outside of Norway, the centre will host a number of operations such as safety and compliance, marketing, sales and communications, as well as training for flight and technical staff.
The news is good news for Gatwick as it adds fuel to its own expansion bid, against Heathrow, to build a second runway – something the Government is considering, despite several postponements. Should Gatwick get the go ahead for expansion, Norwegian plan to base 50 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 100 short haul aircraft at the airport.
Speaking about the new HQ, Chief Executive of Norwegian UK, Asgeir Nyseth, said, “This is an exciting new milestone in Norwegian’s pursuit of substantial growth across the UK. Our new UK headquarters symbolises our commitment to this hugely important strategic market, and it allows us to grow steadily in an engaging work environment.”
