Passengers are being reminded that even though it’s Christmas time, the strict restrictions on hand luggage have not been lifted.
Items in hand luggage have tight security controls on them and this time of year sees no exceptions warns Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The usual restrictions apply – for example, liquid items being in no larger quantities than 100ml and all placed together in one resealable plastic bag.
• However, many toys and gifts cannot be carried in hand luggage – perfumes (unless purchased in the Duty Free shops and kept in their sealed bags), snow globes, toy weapons, including Nerf guns for instance.
• Gifts should not be wrapped as if they are flagged up through security they will be unwrapped.
• Crackers and party poppers are prohibited from both hand luggage and suitcases that are stored in the main aircraft hold as they contain a small amount of explosives.
Commenting on the help and advice offered by the airport, David Briggs, Head of Customer Care, Terminal and Landside Operations for LJLA said, “We pride ourselves for being faster, easier and friendlier and would like to remind all passengers about the restrictions in place and to help us to help them by avoiding some of the disappointment we have seen in previous years when passing through airport security. Allow plenty of time, come prepared and think carefully about what you are carrying in your hand luggage.
We would strongly recommend that passengers unsure as to what may or may not be permitted in hand and hold luggage should check first with their airline, before setting off for the airport. “
