A £30 million project to add four new aircraft parking stands at London City Airport is nearing completion. The project, which is due for completion in May, will see the number of aircraft stands increase to 18 and a new sound screen incorporated to minimise the effects of aircraft operations on neighbouring properties. In addition, the departure lounge is being reconfigured to add an extra 250 passenger seats and enhanced retail outlets. Twelve SITA AirportConnect CUSS (Common User Self Service) check-in kiosks will be available from early May enabling passengers to check themselves in for flights with airlines including VLM, KLM and Swiss. Melanie Burnley, General Manager, Customer Services and Security, who has overseen the installation of the system at the airport, comments: “the majority of passengers at London City Airport are frequent fliers who will appreciate the timesaving that the CUSS technology offers. By speeding-up the overall time spent at the airport, business travellers are able to commute with further ease to their final destination. We are keen to continue to offer the fastest and most efficient service that passengers using London City Airport have come to expect.†For up-to-date London City airport information and to book London hotels and London City airport parking click on the links.
