It’s a first for London City Airport has it launches its new real time flight service on Facebook messenger.
This new initiative means that any traveller with access to messenger can post their flight number on the airport’s Facebook page, they then receive personalised flight information, such as departure and arrival times and boarding gate number.
Hugely convenient to passengers, it means that they don’t have to be checking flight screens for updates at the airport, interrupting their shopping or dining experience. What’s more, the modern technology fits with the airport’s growing younger audience, 35% of whom are under 35 years of age.
Speaking about the new service, Chief Information Officer at London City Airport, Alison FitzGerald, said, “The majority of our passengers are connected to social media and many of these are business travellers, so it makes perfect sense to offer flight updates directly to their smartphones via Facebook Messenger. We already offer free Wi-Fi and a check-in time of 20 minutes or less, and this is another way of ensuring a hassle-free, personalised customer experience.”
