Luton Airport has sponsored the Flying Start Award at The Prince’s Trust regional ‘Celebrate Success’ Event.
The honourable Prince’s Trust programme recognises those young persons who, having faced substantial obstacles in life, are in sustainable employment as a result of the Trust.
The evening’s winner of the airport sponsored Flying Start Award was Michael Tyler from Dunstable, having overcome huge setbacks in his young life and achieving full time employment and genuine career prospects.
The airport also took the opportunity to showcase its award winning “Get into Airports” programme.
The programme is a four week course to help unemployed young people aged 18-25 find employment. The first two weeks are dedicated to training and preparation for the world of work, and the second two are spent on a work placement with airport business partners, including Select Service Partner, OCS, TUI, The Restaurant Group and Dixons Travel.
21 young persons this year alone have successfully secured jobs at the Luton Airport after completing this course.
