November has seen record numbers of passengers at Luton Airport.
A whopping 850,000 passengers used Luton to jet off last month, a record in the airport’s history.
The airport’s success is going sky high, having now recorded 20 consecutive months of growth, with November’s figures up by 23.6% compared to the same period last year.
Currently, the airport is redeveloping so that it will be able to dramatically increase its passenger numbers; the £110 million project will see current figures rise from 12 million passengers each year to 18 million.
Speaking about results, Nick Barton, Chief Executive, said: “20 months of consecutive growth at LLA shows that demand in the South East and in LLA is at record levels. Whilst the decision to build a new runway has been delayed, the need for more sustainable capacity hasn’t gone away. That’s why we’ve already begun our £110million redevelopment increasing capacity from 12m to 18m. 2016 will be an exciting year for us as the transformation takes shape.”
