There will be 18 months of delays on Luton Airport motorway route.
Please be aware that Junction 10a of the M1, from St Albans to Luton Airport will be subject to long delays for the next 18 months as essential road works take place.
Currently news of road closures, diversion and delays have been issued that will affect the new couple of weeks of travel, over the disruptions experienced for the next 18 months.
From the night of Tuesday 4th March until 9th March the M1 spur road and A1081 New Airport Way will be closed eastbound (towards the airport) between M1 J10 and Capability Green.
The following week, overnight from Monday 10th March until 12th March the M1 spur road and A1081 New Airport Way will be closed westbound (towards the M1) between Capability Green and M1 J10. Between 8pm and 6am traffic will not be able to join the M1 at J10 and will again be diverted via J11 (A505, A5065, and A505). Traffic will still be able to leave the M1 at J10.
Speed limits will be in place for the duration, of just 30mph.
The works is part of a long awaited £30 million improvement scheme to tackle congestion and queues that are infamous at the junction.
