Manchester Airport has reason to celebrate, as it breaks all records for passenger numbers.
The highest number of passengers, in the airport’s 77 year history, was recorded for the last year.
A whopping 23 million travellers passed through the airport, which equates to an increase of 5% compared to the following year, and 30% compared to 2010. This proves the airport is going from strength to strength after its 19 consecutive month of passenger increases was recorded last month.
Now offering a choice of 210 destinations, the airport welcomes new long haul flights next year, to Boston, China and Los Angeles.
Speaking about the record year, Ken O’Toole, the airport’s Managing Directors, said, “We have more than 22 million people living within two hours of the airport and our continued addition of new routes and increased frequencies is seeing both business and leisure customers choose Manchester. Manchester Airport has never been busier and our continued growth is testament to the role we play in connecting people across the North to destinations in all four corners of the world.”
