It’s nearly two years since the introduction of the liquids in hand luggage restrictions, but some passengers are still ignorant of the rules, and it’s costing them a fortune.

At Newcastle Airport, security teams confiscate 800 bottles of liquids every day – that’s around 400 litres, worth an estimated £1000, yes that’s £1,000’s worth everyday!

As the summer season gets underway, the airport is urging passengers to take heed of restrictions. At current levels, it takes up to 10 man-hours a day just to recycle and dispose of the liquids confiscated.
