Prestwick Airport had cause for celebration this week as it reported an increase in passenger numbers of 13% in September verses the same month last year.

In total the airport saw 173,254 passengers pass through its doors.

The biggest increase was seen on popular ‘sunshine’ routes.

Freight volumes were also up by 7%.
