A new drop off charge will be applied, as from 1st September, at Southampton Airport.
For a maximum 10 minute drop off, drivers will be charged £1 when using the priority drop off and pick up areas, with payment made in cash ‘drop boxes’ on the exit.
The airport is improving its car parking facilities. As part of this, the existing free drop off areas will move to the long stay car parking area, where passengers will be allowed 30 minutes of free parking, from which passengers will need to catch the shuttle bus to the terminal. This shuttle bus service operates every 3 – 5 minutes, taking approximately 10 minutes.
The airport has invested over £20 million, which as well as new parking arrangements, also includes improvements and updates to its security structure and its arrivals and departure zones.
Speaking about Southampton’s new improvements, Neil Garwood, Head of Operations, said, “With many new airlines and new routes being announced over the past year, it is anticipated that passenger numbers will increase which comes with a responsibility to improve facilities to maintain our current high standards.”
