Stansted Airport is to undergo major upgrades and renovations, its owners, Manchester Airports Group – MAG – has confirmed.
The airport will undergo works throughout the terminal building and surrounding out buildings. It will include works to its arrivals infrastructure and departures areas, both landside and airside. What’s more, additional car parking facilities will be added.
The expansion to the airport supports its rapid grow, as the South East is very nearly at breaking point with capacity. This growth, and this UK air capacity crisis experienced at Gatwick and Heathrow, will benefit the airport greatly, as airlines look to offer more and more routes out of regional London airports.
Its plans, that equate to £600 million, are to be revealed shortly, as MAG invites interested constructors to bid for the work. As a result, MAG is to hold a Supplier’s Day in May, for interested parties, who turn over £100 million annually. It will also speak to designers and build partners regarding the project.
This isn’t the only improvement project MAG is currently working on. Manchester Airport is also to undergo a major £1 billion expansion programme as it too goes from strength to strength.
