To avoid paying easyJet’s baggage charges, 19 year old, James McElvar, decided to wear most of his clothing on a flight from Stansted to Glasgow.
The action was taken when he was faced with charges to take both a rucksack and a suitcase on the flight of £45.
As a result, Mr McElvar, wore his clothes, that equated to 12 different layers – that was made up of six t-shirts, four jumpers, two pairs of jogging pants, three pairs of jeans, two jackets and two hats. However, he collapsed on the flight, severing with heat exhaustion.
He became unwell, vomiting before collapsing. Thankfully for him, an off-duty paramedic was also on the flight, who offered medical assistance along with trained easyJet crew members. He was also given medical assistance once the aircraft landed.
Speaking to the Sun newspaper, Mr McElvar said, “I thought I was a goner. It felt just like I was having a heart attack. I was so hot I felt I would pass out as soon as I boarded.”
