The busy Easter period has begun at Stansted, as the airport expects to see over 280,000 passengers pass through it over the next few weeks.
The boost in passengers has been helped by many new routes, ten in the next few weeks alone, now offered out of the airport, including exciting long haul destinations.
Many airlines are investing in the airport with new routes, including EasyJet, Thomas Cook and Flybe.
As a result, the airport now offers 170 direct connections around the globe.
Speaking about the busy year ahead, Stansted’s Managing Director, Andrew Harrison said, “Stansted is already the fastest growing major airport in the UK serving over 20million passengers a year and with the new routes set to join the departure boards, is set for a very busy and exciting summer.”
Passengers can now fly from Stansted to the long haul destinations of Orlando, Las Vegas and Cancun, whilst several domestic routes have also been added, including Isle of Man, Newcastle and Newcastle, as well as short haul routes to Deauville, Azores, Clermont and Monastir.
Adding, “Providing our passengers with the widest choice of destinations and airlines is at the heart of our ambition to continue the growth of Stansted. Whilst we have much of Europe covered in terms of connectivity, it’s really exciting to be expanding our network even further and to open new UK connections to better serve our regions and to also welcome our new long-haul connections to the USA and Mexico.”
