On 5 June 1983, as part of a one-off European tour, NASA’s Space Shuttle Enterprise touched down at Stansted airport. Nearly half a million people gathered to watch it land on the back of a modified Boeing 747.
Now 25 years later, Stansted Airport is to hold a special exhibition to mark the 25th anniversary of the Shuttle’s visit with an exhibition featuring film footage of the Shuttle landing, rare photographs and memorabilia. The day-long exhibition will be open from 11am on 5 June and take place in Enterprise House, named in honour of the Shuttle’s visit.
