Following on from yesterday’s terror attacks on the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, the FCO have issued the following travel advice.
The FCO warn against ANY travel within a 10km radius of the Syrian border, and to the city of Diyarbakir.
What’s more, all but essential travel should be avoided to the following areas:
• the remaining areas of Sirnak, Mardin, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Kilis and Hatay provinces
• Siirt, Tunceli and Hakkari
The FCO state that travel within the rest of the county is generally safe, however safety precautions must be undertaken, and it urges tourists and travellers to be extra vigilant, especially in busy, populated tourist areas.
However, the FCO has said that ‘further attacks are likely, could be indiscriminate and may target or affect places visited by foreigners’.
